Blitz
Just last week a series of student choreographed dances called ‘Blitz’ opened and I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to design and construct the costumes for one of the pieces.
The choreographer wanted an ‘other worldly’ feeling for the costumes in an earthy palette. I think I achieved that. Well, I hope I did. A lot of the time when I get free reign on things like this I always seem to stray in the 1950s vision of the future or Space Vixens.
I was so busy leading up to the opening that I didn’t get any proper photos of the costumes either on stand or dancer (besides two snaps on my mobile phone). So all I have to show you, my lovely readers, is the ONE ( :( ) professional photo from the WAAPA hired photographer and a handful of shots that a friend snapped from the theatre. That neither shows the costumes very well. I hope I’ll be able to get some better photos before we bump out next week.
