Happy 22nd Birthday, Vivian!

Yesterday was my 22nd birthday and to celebrate I had a Dead Celebrities party at Deville’s Pad (an amazing bar that’s set out to look like a volcano). Of course I was Marilyn Monroe. Who else! I made the pink dress form Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend number in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes in one day (I have never made a dress in one day before). My boyfriend even bought me the replica necklace and earrings to match.
I didn’t get a lot of flattering photos threw out the night but I’ve found a couple (thank you FaceBook) that aren’t too bad that show the dress okay.

My favorite part of the dress is the big bow. Hands down.

I hope to do another photo post soon once I get to upload my photos from the night.

Joking A (Tea) Part(y)

Yesterday at uni we had a little tea party, no real reason why, we just wanted one.
There were scones, brownies, sausage rolls, cucumber sandwiches, rose cupcakes and French earl grey tea. It was quite decedent.
This is one of my favourite outfits at the moment. I love a bit of polka dots!
And Alexandra is sporting a very adorable 60's two piece. Don't you just want to hug her?!
On to other news, I hit 100 followers last week and to say 'Thank You' I am going to do a give away! Keep tuned, I hope to post more about it today.

Joking Apart III

Done. Yesterday I just finished putting in the lining now it's all ready to go for dress parade. How exciting! I was worried about the trim (if it were up to me I would have left it off) but I think it's turned out quite nice in the end. I'm looking forward to seeing it up on stage.

Joking Apart II

We had out last fitting last week and I do think, even if I say so myself, that it is turning out quite nice. The colour has changed to a lighter blue and it's just adorable.

I finished the dress today and will start to put the lining for the jacket I hope to be done very soon.

Joking Apart

This slot we are working on a great little play called Joking Apart. It’s set from the late 1960’s to mid 1970’s and I must admit I have a dandy make. I am making a dress and jacket in a late 60’s style in a dark blue. It’s very exciting.
It's the dress from this one...

and the jacket from this one (with out train :P).

We fitted the toile yesterday and it’s looking great even in it’s calico stage. The photos do it no justice at all. I can’t wait to show you once it’s together.

Also, here are some sneak pictures of things I have been making to sell for V&V.

Antiques Fair

This weekend we had an antiques fair in Perth and it's not often that I can go to these things so when I do I normally spend big. But, since I lost my job on Saturday I did make any big purchases, just some stamps for V&V.
Dress: Ebay
Gloves: Op-shop
Cardigan: Mums
Cardigan Clip: Swap meet
Shoes: A little store in Melbourne.
P.S.
I dyed my hair, do you like it?

Swap Meet

On Sunday morning my mooma and myself when to the Swap Meet (Car Boot Sale) in Belmont and I came out a little poorer but with a pretty nice haul I think.
A light blue powder puff.
A cute little hat broach.
An adorable cardigan clip.
Brass and pearl opera glasses.
And this dark blue dress with white piping and button back. I'm going to alter it in to a wiggle dress. I'll let you know how it goes!

Sunday & Monday

Two very exciting and fun things have happened over the last two days. On Sunday (Alexandras and my brand) V&V had our first stall at the Retro markets at the Burlesque lounge. We spent all of our week of making things to sell even uniforms to wear. It was great to get dressed up and meet new people.

And today we had our last wig class and as tradition we got to dress up and wear them. I did a 1930/40’s slash do so I wore an Andrew Sisters style uniform.

Lot's of hat fix'n.
